For accountancy firms
Ask us to correct what we show about your firm
Some of what we show comes from Companies House and some is ours. This page explains which is which and how to ask for a change.
How to ask
- Find the company record on our company look-up and note its company number.
- Tell us what is wrong and what it should say. Send anything that shows it, such as a link to your own website.
- Send it to us: hello@therightaccountant.co.uk.
We aim to reply within 10 working days.
What we can change
- Our own labels, such as the size band or ownership type we have given a company. These come from our rules, which are on our method page. If we have applied a rule wrongly, we fix it.
- Facts we have checked, such as the services a firm offers or the software it uses, once we have seen evidence.
- Which company we link to a practice. A practice may run more than one company. If we have linked the wrong ones, tell us.
What we cannot change
We show Companies House data as it is published, such as the company name, number, address, people with significant control and accounts type. We cannot edit it. If it is wrong, correct it at Companies House.1 Our copy comes from Companies House data files with a stated date, so a correction shows here only after we load a newer file.
Companies House publishes what companies file. Its own disclaimer says that a filing being on the public record does not mean Companies House has verified it.2
Claiming your profile
Correcting a record is open to any firm. Taking part, so that business owners can be introduced to you, is separate. See how to take part.
We log what we change
Every correction we make to a fact on the site is listed on our corrections page, with the date, the page, what changed and why.
