About The Right Accountant

The Right Accountant helps business owners work out what financial support they need and, only if they ask, introduces them to a participating accountancy firm.

Last updated 13 October 2026.

Who runs it

The Right Accountant is run by Muswell Rose Consulting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15269776), registered office 40 De Vere Road, Colchester, Essex, CO3 4EA. Contact: hello@therightaccountant.co.uk.

What the site does

  • Coming soon: a form that compares the finance support you tell us you have with what we would expect for a business with your turnover, number of staff and situation, using draft rules. You will see the result before we ask for contact details.
  • Guides on finding, changing and checking an accountant, and on specialist accountants, such as for online sellers.
  • Coming soon: a look-up of companies on the Companies House register that chose an accountancy activity code (SIC 69201, 69202 or 69203), and research built from that data.
  • If you ask, up to two participating firms that meet the most of your needs, and an introduction to one of them if you agree. Introductions have not started yet.

What it does not do

  • We do not give tax or accounting advice. We help you work out what kind of help to look for.
  • We do not rate or score firms, and showing a firm is not a recommendation.
  • We do not check whether an accountant is competent, qualified or suitable for your business.
  • We cannot see how well your current accountant does the work. A gap in your result is something to discuss with them.

How it is paid for

The plan is that participating firms pay a fee for each introduction they accept. No firm pays anything yet. Firms do not pay to be listed and cannot pay to be shown more often. Our rule is that payment does not decide which firm we show; the rules we use are on our method page. The fee is not set yet.

More about how we work

  • Trust centre: how we are paid, where our facts come from, corrections, privacy and complaints.
  • How our method works: the rules behind the form and how we choose firms.
  • Research: what we have found in the Companies House data, and how we counted.
