Companies House information on our pages

Company records on this site show public Companies House data. Companies House says it imposes "no rules or requirements on how the information on the public register is used".3 This can include the names of officers and people with significant control, because Companies House publishes them. Companies House publishes what companies file; its disclaimer says that a filing being on the public record does not mean it has been verified.4

Why we use it (lawful basis)

  • Emails you send us: our legitimate interest in replying to you and dealing with what you ask. We keep them only as long as we need them for that, or for any complaint that follows.
  • IP address and browser details: our legitimate interest in delivering the site and keeping it secure.
  • Checklist ticks: stored only on your device, because you asked the checklist to remember them. We never receive them.

Cloudflare and Google may process information outside the UK.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have rights over your personal information. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) lists them as the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object, and rights related to automated decision making including profiling.5 We hold very little about you: usually nothing at all unless you email us.

To use a right, contact us: hello@therightaccountant.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, the ICO recommends that in most cases you raise it with us first; if you are unhappy with our response, you can then complain to the ICO.6 See ico.org.uk.

What will change when introductions start

These are plans. They are not built, and this notice will be updated before they are.

  • Contact details will be collected only at the introduction step, after you have seen your result.
  • They will be sent to one named firm, and only with your consent. You will see exactly what is shared first.
  • We plan to ask, if you agree, follow-up questions after 30 and 90 days about how the introduction went.
  • Marketing from us will need a separate, optional consent.
  • The updated notice will give the lawful basis for each new use, how long we keep each kind of information, and every company that processes it for us.
