Seven kinds of finance support
Our check looks at seven kinds of finance support, from bookkeeping to finance leadership. Your result shows which ones you told us you have, and which you may benefit from. This picture is an example.
What this site does
The Right Accountant helps UK business owners work out what financial support they need, from bookkeeping to a part-time finance director, and explains how to find, check or change an accountant. Our research uses Companies House data on all 63,661 companies on the register that chose an accountancy activity code (54,295 of them trading). We do not rate or score firms, and we do not give tax or accounting advice.

What brings you here?
How it works
Four steps
- 01
Your business
Type your company name. We fill in what Companies House shows, and you correct anything that is wrong.
- 02
Your current support
Tell us who helps you now and what they do. If you name your accountant, we show the public facts we hold on their firm.
- 03
Your result
We compare what you told us you have with what we would expect for a business with your turnover, number of staff and situation, using draft rules. You also get questions to ask your current accountant.
- 04
An introduction, if you want one
If you want a firm and one taking part matches your answers, we show up to two participating firms that meet the most of your needs, with the reasons. This is not a rating or a recommendation. We share nothing with a firm unless you agree.

Our research
What Companies House records show about UK accountancy companies
Source: Companies House company data (1 October 2026) and people with significant control data (12 October 2026). A company is not the same as a practice: one practice can run several companies. How we counted.
Look up a firm
Look up an accountancy company
Search by name, town or postcode. Each page shows the company's staff number, ownership and age from Companies House records, with the date and source of each fact.
How we are paid
Firms pay us when they accept an introduction
You never pay us. Our rule is that payment does not decide which firm we show you, or in what order. How we choose firms.
How we match
We match on what a firm can do
We look at the services you need, the size of your business and any specialist area. Location counts only if you want someone local. How our method works.
